As a gift for Ma, Ryan painted a portrait of Aska Yang, the Taiwanese pop star that she is OBSESSED with.
Now Ma can add it to her Aska Yang shrine which includes, among other things, a giant autographed Aska Yang poster and two autographed Aska Yang bobble-head figurine thingies.
And Ma says that I am "chi bao fan mei shi gan" =^o
For the wedding Memorial Day weekend, Ryan and I flew back to Pittsburgh Thursday evening, partly so we would have enough time for last-minute organizing stuff and partly because tickets were ridiculously cheaper on Thursday compared to Friday. Unfortunately, when we bought the tickets way back in February, we apparently did not have the foresight to take into the account the possibility that the Penguins might make it into the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and that they may be playing a home game that very Thursday night =^o...
This caused a problem, partly because traffic would be a nightmare all over town but mostly because our flight was scheduled to arrive shortly before the start of the game and both Ma, Ba, and Ryan wanted to watch the game... Hehe, and that in itself was also a problem because the stupid NHL was only showing the 2nd round games on Versus, which Ma and Ba, despite having a bazillion digital satellite channels at home, apparently do NOT have. The problem was solved though by having Ba drive straight to a random sports bar near the airport right after work to save seats while Ma fought through traffic to pick us up and take us to the sports bar as soon as we arrived. Ma told Ba to get to the sports bar as EARLY as possible because it would be so SUPERCROWDED with all the Penguins fans. Ba got there SUPER EARLY around 5:45pm for a 7:30pm game. He said he was one of the only people there at the bar when he got there, and ended up sitting there by himself for over an hour until we finally showed up around 7pm (he ordered a beer and brocolli puffs to pass the time >^P).. Even then, the bar was still half-empty, although it filled up by the time the game started. Still, Ba was there SO unnecessarily early =^o...
Ba was SO excited while watching the game that he could barely contain himself...
...SOOOOO excited!!...
Since pictures don't do enough justice for how SOOO excited Ba was, here's a video clip:
SOOOOO excited!..
It was fun though to watch the game surrounded by all these random people shouting and giving high-fives and such.. Hehe, or as Ryan said, it was neat to finally be able to watch a hockey game in a place where everyone was cheering for the same team as he was.. Yay for transplanted Penguins fans =^)
He is a gorilla. He is shiny. (I was originally going to be boring and just name him "Shiny"... I've been getting so lazy with my pet primate names =^P)
I can't wait to take him outside and burn ants with him >^D
We had dinner with Zhi-Wei in Chinatown since he's in Boston during the week now for work. We stopped by his swanky apartment to check out his temporary digs.
Here is Zhi-Wei's "closet" in his apartment:
Soooooo messy =^O...
His fridge contains nothing but a 6-pack of Blue Moon, OJ, half a carton of eggs, and 3 jars of salsa that's over a month old left by the former apartment tenant. He is living the high-life =^)
We went to Shabu-Zen for hot pot. Unfortunately, they did not have any fish balls =^(... Hot pot just isn't the same without two balls. So disappointing.
